Buy an annuity with only 20-30% of corpus if you want guaranteed lifetime income. Annuities offer poor returns (4-6%) and lock money permanently. Most retirees are better served by a balanced portfolio with SWP. Annuity is insurance against longevity risk — useful but expensive.
