What is a Sovereign Gold Bond (SGB)?

SGBs are government securities denominated in grams of gold, issued by the RBI. They offer the price appreciation of gold PLUS 2.5% annual interest. If held to 8-year maturity, capital gains are completely tax-free. They are the most tax-efficient and safest way to invest in gold without physical storage costs.
