What is Claim Settlement Ratio (CSR) in life insurance?

CSR is the percentage of death claims settled by an insurer out of total claims received in a year. IRDAI publishes annual CSRs for all life insurance companies. A CSR above 95% is considered excellent. LIC consistently reports 98%+ CSR. Always check CSR before choosing a life insurance provider.
