What is the Loan-to-Value (LTV) ratio in home loans?

LTV is the percentage of the property value a bank will lend you. RBI mandates: LTV up to 75–80% for home loans above ₹30 lakh — meaning you must arrange a 20–25% down payment. For ₹50 lakh property, the maximum loan is ₹40 lakh; the remaining ₹10 lakh must come from your own funds.
