What is the e-Rupee (Central Bank Digital Currency)?

The e-Rupee is India's Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) issued by the RBI, representing the digital form of the Indian Rupee. Unlike UPI which moves bank money digitally, the e-Rupee is legal tender itself, like a digital banknote. It enables offline transactions and programmable payments.
