What is an ISIN number?

An ISIN (International Securities Identification Number) is a unique 12-character alphanumeric code assigned to every listed security — stock, bond, or ETF — in the world. In India, NSDL allocates ISINs. It's used to uniquely identify a security across global financial systems and facilitate cross-border transactions.
