What is Critical Illness Insurance?

Critical illness plans pay a fixed lump sum on diagnosis of specified serious illnesses — cancer, heart attack, kidney failure, stroke, etc. — regardless of actual treatment cost. This lump sum can replace lost income, fund expensive treatment abroad, or pay off loans. It supplements, not replaces, standard health insurance.
