What is a Bonus Share?

Bonus shares are free additional shares issued by a company to existing shareholders in a fixed ratio (e.g., 1:2 means 1 bonus share for every 2 held). The total value of the investment remains the same — the share price adjusts proportionately. Bonus issues do not affect company fundamentals but improve market liquidity.
