Which ITR form should I file if I have mutual fund investments?

ITR-2 if you have capital gains from mutual funds or stocks plus salary/rental income. ITR-3 if you also have business or profession income. ITR-1 (Sahaj) is only for salaried with income under Rs50 lakh and no capital gains. Filing the wrong ITR can result in defective return notice from the IT department.
