What is the Price-to-Rent Ratio and why does it matter?

Price-to-Rent = Property price divided by annual rent. Below 15 means buying is better; above 20 means renting and investing the difference wins financially. Mumbai and Bengaluru are at 30-40x ratios — renting and investing in equity generates significantly more wealth than buying in these markets at current valuations.
