What is Exit Load in mutual funds?

Exit load is a small fee charged by the AMC when you redeem fund units before a specified holding period, usually 1 year. It discourages premature withdrawals and helps the fund maintain stable AUM. Most equity funds charge 1% exit load if redeemed within one year of investment.
