What is the Waiting Period for Pre-Existing Diseases in health insurance?

Most health insurance policies exclude pre-existing diseases (PEDs) for a waiting period of 2–4 years from policy inception. After this period, PEDs are covered. IRDAI has defined a PED as any condition for which you had symptoms, diagnosis, or treatment within 48 months before buying the policy.
